Whilst in Hobart, I saw advertised an orchid show, and thought I’d struck the jackpot. I love orchids, and would love to have a collection of my own one day -ideally in a glass greenhouse, in a section of their own, something like in Adaptation…

However, it turned out that the orchid show had been and gone, the dates published were wrong, and instead there was an Australian native wildflower display. Whilst I felt initially disappointed, it turned out that the display was wonderful. The smell engulfed you as you entered the town hall and I loved the sprigs of flowers displayed in bottles, all lined up like something from an Easter show. There was a lovely couple with their business of producing native pepper berries, which they also infuse in oil. Yum. Plus, there was a stand which featured the native Australian orchids.

Tick, tick! Success!
